Yelapa Cove
About a two hour sail from Puerto Vallarta, this Picturesque cove of beautiful white sand is surrounded by mountains. One of Puerto Vallarta’s most popular day trips. Perfect for swimming, snorkeling, parachute gliding, and relaxing with a drink in a hammock. This Polynesian.style village features casual beach-style restaurants under thatched roofs where visitors can enjoy delicious freshly caught red snapper. (Be sure to wear jeans or a bathing suit with a cover-up and tennis shoes.)

A 20-minute hike or 30-minute horseback ride brings adventurers to a sparkling 150 - foot waterfall, where visitors usually enjoy a dip in the cool pool at the waterfall’s base. The quaint village is a great place to purchase handicrafts and unique designer clothing. The small hotel and the local yacht club doubles as a lively disco at night.

Los Arcos Underwater Nature Preserve
Located just off Playa Mismaloya is an underwater marine nature preserve comprised of several small islands which offer amazing snorkeling, impressive reefs, deep tunnels, caves and arches with abundant marine life.

Punta Mita http://www.puntamita.com/ is located in the pristine State of Nayarit 40 miles northwest of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, on the northwest point of Bahia de Banderas, the Bay of Flags. The beaches (playas) are the most beautiful and pristine in the entire Bahia de Banderas, Bay of Flags, possibly all of Mexico.

Boat Trips
Boats leave every morning for Yelapa, Las Animas, Quimixto and small secluded beaches like Majahuita to the south of the bay and for Piedra Blanca’s mountain-rimmed beaches to the north. These day-trips usually include an English-speaking capitan and crew, snorkeling gear, lunch, and an open bar.

You can take a day trip to Islas Marietas Ecological Reserve, a reserve where Jacques Cousteau spent time exploring the abundant marine life including sea turtles, dolphins and whales in winter. Or they can choose a trip for diving at El Morro Reef. You will have a great view of Los Arcos National Park and the giant boulders rising out of the sea at the entrance to Mismaloya Beach.

The boats vary from sleek sailboats to the Marigalante, patterned after Christopher Columbus’ ship, the Santa María, complete with a below-deck museum of relics recalling Columbus’ voyages. (Remember to wear a hat and/or take sunglasses and sunscreen.)

Visitors can also enjoy a full spectrum of "fun runs" from serene sunset cruises to unspoiled beaches to high energy sunset sails with live tropical music, barbecue dinners and games and activities.
